Power BI
Power BI is a business analytics software designed by Microsoft. Power BI generates graphics from data stored in various formats such as SQL, Azure, and CSV. Power BI offers competitive advantage over Excel and PowerPoint presentations in that datasets can be updated and modified automatically without extensive knowledge of VBA or other programming languages.
The viewer experience of Power BI also blows PowerPoint out of the water. Power BI reports are stored in centralized locations where the URL links can be rapidly distributed to stakeholders. Viewers will always be looking at the latest data as it's available, rather than tediously crafted presentations with week-old data. Security and permissions for each presentation can be customized on the Power BI reporting server.
Switching from Excel and PowerPoint presentations to Power BI cut my weekly reporting time from 2 hours to less than 30 minutes. Dataset operations on thousands of rows and minor updates of Pivot Tables no longer required precise VBA code to function autonomously. The accrued time savings would then be used to further craft business cases stemming from the data.
The following projects demonstrate my knowledge and implementation of Power BI:
